God of War wird "fastest-selling PS4 excklusive". Innerhalb von drei Tagen (20.04.-23.04.2018) wurde das Spiel mehr als "3.1 million units" gekauft. Shannon Studstill (Studio Head von Santa Monica Studios) schrieb zum Meilenstein ein Nachricht an alle Fans:
